Newtons First and Second Law. Example With Object Suspended With Two Ropes
This video is an example problem showing how to find the force of tension in two ropes suspending an object. One of the ropes is at an angle which adds a degree of difficulty to the question.
When ever solving a question involving forces, be sure to follow these steps.
1. Draw a Free Body Diagram(FBD). This step is very important. Make sure to label All forces involved. Also, be sure to split up each force into its corresponding vector components.
2. Write out two net force equations. One equation for the forces in the x, and one for the forces in the y. Use newtons first law to determine if the net force is equal to zero or if the net force is equal to massXacceleration (ma).
3. Insert all variables and solve the equation.
