An individual was suffering from violent headaches and blurred vision for several years. A doctor determined that this individual had a tumour on the anterior pituitary.
From what you know about this structure of the brain, can you explain why this person was experiencing blurred vision?

The anterior pituitary gland is situated just below the optic nerve, which transmits visual information from the eyes to the visual cortex in the occipital lobe. The tumour must be large enough to physically press against the nerve causing transmission disturbance, therefore impaired/blurred vision.
