Determine the mass of CuSO4 needed to create 250mL of 0.450M
solution.
How would you do this and what is the correct answer?

To find out the mass needed you need to calculate the number of moles of the solute then the mass required for this preparation.

Molarity is the numer of moles of solute per liter of solution, thus C=n/V

hence n=CxV=0.450M x 250 x 10-3=0.1125 moles

Molar mass of CuSO4 is 160g/mole

n=m/M, m=nxM = 0.1125 x 160 = 18 g of CuSO4 are needed for this preparation.
