my essential question is: How does an individual’s perspective of, and response to, crisis define him or her?

My thesis statement is: In her short story, Fein develops the perspective that in order to overcome and grow from crisis, individual’s must ensure they resist feelings of self-pity, otherwise they can miss out on their own life.

You want to keep theses as concise as possible. I would therefore reccomend the following changes:
